You can find her performing solo, as a duo with her husband and longtime musical partner, Matt Franzen, or in full band configurations. Her newest project, Kina Lyn & The Western Kind, debuts September, 2025.

Kina was born in Oakland, CA, and spent most of her early childhood studying piano and cello in Eureka, CA before moving to Sweden. Her family returned to the U.S. and moved to Santa Barbara, CA during her teenage years, where she was privileged to access a treasure trove of musical opportunity. She spent four consecutive summers touring Italy, performing on the cello with a chamber music festival, the last also attending an Oberlin workshop in northern Italy, as well as touring the UK with her Madrigals Singers choir, before testing out of high school to attend the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for cello performance. From there, she found the rock ā€˜n’ roll lifestyle which took her all over the West Coast and Montana before she finally settled in Portland, which is where we began.
